American coloratura soprano, Kimberley Bechtold, is quickly establishing herself as a sought-after talent within the opera world.
Kimberley recently graduated with a Master's of Music degree from the Brooklyn College Conservatory, where she studied with Anna Skibinsky. Prior to this, Kimberley graduated with a Bachelor's of Music degree from Georgia State University.
In the years spent studying at Brooklyn College and Georgia State University, Kimberley performed numerous roles, including Adele in Die Fledermaus, Gilda in Rigoletto*, Mary in G Train: The Musical, Tchervyakov's Wife in Death of an Underling, Mrs. Jenks in The Tenderland, Hillary Hickory in Mambo, Rinaldo in Il filosopho di campagna, The Five-Year Old in The Proposal*, Sister Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites*, The Foreign Woman in The Consul*, and Miles in The Turn of the Screw*.
During her studies at Georgia State University, Kimberley won 1st Place in the NATS Georgia Competition Classical Division and 3rd Place in the NATS Georgia Competition Musical Theater Division.
As part of her training, Kimberley participated in the Italian Language Immersion Program in Urbania Italy, entitled Si Parla, Si Canta. While there, she performed numerous roles, including Beatrice in Beatrica di Tenda*, Sandrina in La finta giardiniera*, Eternità in La Calisto*, and Jouvenot in Adriana Lecouvreur*.
Following her studies, Kimberley has performed as the Phantom of the Opera Soloist at Six Flags Over Georgia, the Soprano Soloist Caroler at Stone Mountain Theme Park, the staff soprano soloist at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, a soloist for the Lincoln Center Outreach Program, and as Parthenope in the world premiere of The Odyssey at the 92nd St. Y.
More recently, Kimberley made her off-Broadway debut, starring as Colombina in Giovanni the Fearless at Theater for the New City, where she received glowing reviews. This was preceded by her role as Brigitta in Tchaikovsky's Iolanta with the New York Opera Theater. Following these roles, Kimberley has performed the role of Lucy in Menotti's The Telephone and Mrs. Smith in the world premiere of the music drama, Anne Hutchinson. Kimberley is looking forward to performing Queen of the Night in Hudson Lyric Opera's production of Die Zauberflöte.
In addition to performing, Kimberley is the co-founder and producer of the Les Chanteuses singing burlesque series, with whom she produced ten shows. Kimberley has also studied piano since the age of six and has a growing voice and piano studio, where each lesson is catered to a student's specific goals while incorporating a healthy technique, ear-training, sight-reading, music theory and performance practice.
Kimberley currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
